On February 27, several photos of Krystal and Kang Ji Young at the Sungkyunkwan University’s freshman orientation were taken and posted online.

Krystal can be seen sporting a simple black outfit and sitting with her fellow colleagues, smiling for the cameras and speaking with reporters. She is surrounded by other students and she looks happy and bright.

Krystal commented, “As a college student, I will study hard and show you a better me.” When asked what she wants to do the most as a college student, Krystal answered, “I want to attend lectures diligently and since I’ve become an adult now, I want to get a driver’s license.”

When asked how she felt about getting accepted with her BFF Kang Ji Young, Krystal answered, “I think this will allow us to become even closer.”

Kang Ji Young also wore a simple outfit of a white shirt and black jacket. She was seen passing by the front of the room near the stage, carrying a bright facial expression.

Kang Ji Young also attended a special event called “Flying the Planes of Hope” as the representative of the freshman class that nearly contains 4,000 students.

She commented, “I’m so honored to be here as the freshman representative,” and “I hope everyone will be able to become great students to shine our school. I will also try hard as well.”

130224 KARA’s Gyuri makes cute yo-yo performance mistakes on ‘Star King’

KARA‘s Gyuri discovered just how hard it was to perform with a yo-yo on ‘Star King‘.

On February 23rd’s airing of ‘Star King’, a Japanese world champion yo-yo performer Hiroyuki Suzuki appeared on the show and displayed a spectacular performance, wowing the viewers and the KARA girls with dazzling yo-yo gymnastics.

Following the performance, KARA members Gyuri and Jiyoung had the opportunity to collaborate with Suzuki as they hosted a yo-yo performance with some of KARA’s greatest hits.

Calling it the ‘greatest show in the world,’ Gyuri initially showed confidence, but showed uncertainty as she slipped at the beginning of the show.

Unlike Jiyoung, who showed her flexibility by skillfully spinning her yo-yo, Gyuri struggled with her own toy, eventually sending it all over the place.

Watching this spectacle, MC Kang Ho Dong jokingly teased her saying, “2/3 of Gyuri’s performance was rolling up the string.”

Photos from the script reading released on the 22nd prove that the three stars mean serious business. They all look pretty focused on the lines in front of them.

The ‘Pink Wings‘ campaign is a joint effort by celebrities, cosmetic companies, and VOGUE girl that sets up donation funds to help children in need. The campaign is in its fourth year, and so far, it’s featured celebrities such as Yoon Eun Hye, Park Min Young, Park Shin Hye, Suzy, Nana, and SISTAR.

‘Pink Wings’ has been incredibly successful, bringing in 120 million KRW (~111,286 USD) in donations. Hara’s pictorial, which she took part in for free, with Yves Saint Lauren, Burberry, and Dior will be revealed in the March issue of VOGUE girl. KARA’s Han Seung Yeon recently talked about her pictures and revealed the secrets.

On the February 16 episode of KBS’s Entertainment Relay, KARA members gave an honest interview on the set for shooting a commercial.

A reporter took out the self portraits that Han took without wearing makeup and said, “The audience actually thinks that you are wearing makeup.”

Han said, “I didn’t wear makeup but I retouched the pictures. A cell phone app has various filters. We are honest.”

On February 16th, KBS’s “Celebrity News” conducted an interview with Kara at the set of their CF filming.

During the short interview, Hara honestly confessed, “When I turned 20, I visited a night club with my friends without telling our manager.”

She further revealed, “But I ended up getting caught. Our manager called me when I was at the club. I went outside to answer my phone, and he said, ‘You are at a club, aren’t you?’ I was busted.”

On February 16th broadcast of SBS‘ ‘Star King‘, magicians Yoo Hyun Min and Park Eun Kyung used different outfits to perform a flashy magic trick.

KARA‘s Nicole, Seungyeon, and Gyuri joined them for their final magic performance on the stage.

The magicians had Nicole and Seungyeon wear skin-colored dresses while Gyuri donned a red dress. They all wore a black cape over their dresses. The magicians then asked the audience to find the person in the red dress as the three ladies changed places to confuse the audience.

In the end, Gyuri successfully performed the magic trick by switching her red dress into a nude colored dress.

As the members expressed their happiness for a successful magic trick by dancing to their song, Nicole surprised the viewers as she slipped and fell on stage. However, she shyly stood up again and finished the magic show with a smile on her face.

130211 KARA reveals preview of upcoming anime ‘KARA: The Animation’

Back in December, we reported plans for a KARA anime! It looks like those plans panned out as a preview of ‘KARA: The Anime‘ was recently uploaded from the girls’ Tokyo Dome concert.

The show will depict the 5 beautiful ladies of KARA and the characters will be based on the individual personality and image of the members.

An earlier preview of the anime had been circulating for a few months, this new preview shows improved artwork and more of the action-packed story line for the anime. There are also clips of the girls recording the dialogue and posing for scenes.

After ‘KARA the Animation’ airs in Japan, it is planned to air in Korea at a later date as well.

KARA’s Goo Hara appeared on a special show for the Lunar New Year’s holidays as a surprise guest and sent New Year greetings to viewers.

On the episode of SBS TV’s Family Gift Show that aired live on February 11, a multiple choice question, “Which type of heater has better efficiency?” was asked.

The guests had to choose an answer between electronic heater and oil heater, and the answer was oil heater. The thermal efficiency of oil heater was 80 percent and electronic heater was 38 percent.

The person who gave the question was Goo, and many guests were excited to see her on the screen.

On the show, Jo Hye Ryun and Byun Woo Min organized their own teams and competed against each other.

Kara’s Kang Ji Young is the latest girl group member to be criticized for her reckless behavior on the road.

A Pink’s Jung Eun Ji received a lot of scorn last month for violating a traffic law and potentially causing a huge traffic accident. Wonder Girls’ Sunye also received criticism for covering her wedding car’s license plate with “James♥Seonye.”

She posted an apology through twitter on January 28 that reads, “We rode the wedding car when it was pretty dark outside and were pretty out of it so we weren’t able to notice the car’s license plate.. We want to say that it was unintentional and deeply apologize for not catching that! Wedding car is only on wedding day! That’s only for formality~^^”

After the latest traffic violations committed by girl group members, netizens seemed to be keen on digging up any more childish behaviors committed by celebrities. They found a target through Kang Ji Young.

Recently, Kara had a K-Swiss 2013 S/S photo shoot at Korea University’s gymnasium. The members did their own fashion styling for the “It’s my show time” pictorial concept. As sports brand models, Kara is expected to spruce up the K-Swiss brand.

Meanwhile, the members of Kara recently became the first Korean female singers to hold a solo concert at the Tokyo Dome and cemented their titles as top Hallyu stars.

130205 KARA to possibly advance into the European market with the help of Kobalt Music

After taking on the Korean and Japanese music scene, it’s been announced that KARA may possibly advance into the European market!

It’s said that music publisher Kobalt Music feels that KARA has what it takes to be a success in the European music scene judging from their success in Korea and Japan, and recently offered to help the group reach out to the markets of United Kingdom and Europe.

Kobalt Music’s proposal includes KARA releasing songs from Kobalt Music, and the company distributing the tracks in the United Kingdom and Europe. DSP Mediaconfirmed that they have indeed received such an offer on the 4th, commenting,“We will fully review the offer.”

KARA recently became the first Korean girl group to hold a solo concert at the exclusive Tokyo Dome and has been one of the representative Korean artists in Japan, and now have fans anticipating to see a possible expansion out into the European market.

Kara‘s Goo Hara recently underwent a surgery for acute appendicitis.

After the successful surgery, the idol updated her Twitter with the message, “I am okay. Kamilia. Thank you for being so concerned with my health. My hand is swollen.”

Goo Hara underwent a surgery on January 31st at a hospital in Seoul.

130201 Appendicitis sidelines Goo Ha-ra

KARA will be one member down for the time being following Goo Ha-ra‘s trip to the emergency room.

The idol singer was rushed to the hospital early yesterday after complaining of severe stomach pains.

Her manager came to the rescue and after being taken to a nearby hospital the 22-year-old was diagnosed with acute appendicitis and underwent surgery.

A DSP Media representative said fans shouldn’t worry too much and it wasn’t a big deal. “Nevertheless, we’ll be focusing on getting Goo back to top shape”.

As it stands the girls were to work on recording in Japan from today. Rest of the members will carry on as planned, and Goo will fill in her part later.

Goo is often regarded as the face of the group, and most recently was picked to be the model for Lotte Liquor’s line of soju alongside Sistar’s Hyolyn and 4Minute’s Hyun-a.

The three girl groups replaced Lee Hyo-lee in the ads and caused quite a sensation with their suggestive dance moves that came in three versions from tame to risque.

KARA Han Seungyeon to go Head to Head with Top Actress Kim Tae Hee? Confirmed for Role in SBS ‘Jang Ok Jung’

KARA Han Seungyeon has been casted for a role in the SBS drama, “Jang Ok Jung.”

This will be her official debut as an actress and will be acting alongside top stars such as Kim Tae Hee and Yoo Ah In.

Although she was busy with her foreign activities, she still found time to practice her role in the drama.



DSP Media commented, “Seungyeon has always dreamt of having an acting role and after a long debate, she decide to act in this drama. Although she has appeared as cameo roles or Japan dramas, this is her first acting debut in Korea. She is working hard to bring the best to the screen.”

This drama will begin this April after the end of “Queen of Ambition.”
