121026 KARA’s Jiyoung and f(x)’s Sulli talk about their friendship

On the October 24th episode of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Star Interview‘, KARA‘s Jiyoung talked about her friendship with f(x)‘s Sulli and how they first met.

Jiyoung began, “For the two years following my debut, I didn’t have any celebrity friends. Then a girl group named f(x) debuted. We were promoting ‘Mister‘ at the time, and we ended up using the same waiting room. I approached her first and said, ‘Hello, [I was also born in '94]. Let’s be friends.’ She wanted to be close with me too, and that’s how we became friends.”

Sulli added, “I think Jiyoung has been there for me through my hardships more times than I’ve been there for her. I’m always whining, ‘Hurry up, I want to see you soon. Let’s meet right now.’ Then Jiyoung says something like, ‘Okay, stop pestering me, we’ll see each other in 30 minutes.’ I’m really thankful that she’s always there for me whether I’m happy or sad. I’m grateful to have her as a friend.”

KARA‘s Hara shared about the hardships of being a celebrity, and also expressed her appreciation for the group’s maknae, Jiyoung, who joined KARA when she was 15 years old.

On October 24th broadcast of KBS‘ ‘Star Interview‘, Hara talked about Jiyoung by sharing, “It’s a time when you shouldn’t know much and just laugh and hang out with friends, but Jiyoung started her career as a celebrity at that age.”

She continued, “Even when you’re having a hard time, you can’t express it and have to force yourself to like it. And I also debuted when I was 18 years old and went through a lot of hate comments. But Jiyoung had to experience that at an even earlier age. So whenever I see Jiyoung, I just feel sorry for her and I’m also thankful that she came this far.”

Already been five years since her debut, Jiyoung thought for a bit after being asked, “KARA’s 5 years?“, and laughed as she finally answered, “A bumpy ride.” In addition, Jiyoung also shared, “Entertainment shows are hard. I think I have no choice but to stick it out, with a hard-core spirit.”

121022 Kara Members High Five Over 10,000 For Fan Event Over Five Hours

The Kara members have touched their fans in Japan – literally.

On October 21, in Tokyo’s Odaiba, the Kara members held a special time to meet and get close with its fans. Over the course of five hours in total, the Kara members each gave a high five to fans in attendance. It was later on revealed the Kara members had high fived over 10,000 fans during that time.

The special event was done to commemorate the release of Kara’s most recent single album, electric Boy.

Park Gyuri shared on the experience saying, “We were just thankful so many people came.”

121022 Limited Edition Kara Art to Go On Sale

The Kara members are becoming works of art.

Collaborating with the hallyu items sale site, starmise.com, special limited edition art posters, magnets and other art items will go on sale later this month.

The works will be drawn by realist painter Won Jong Shin and Park Gi Il for the special project. Only 4,000 copies of the individual member posters and 6,000 copies of the group’s posters will be printed. The special art cubes will be made in the form of a toy cube and feature never-before-seen pictures from the recent Pandora album.

A special exhibition featuring works from the project will be available for viewing beginning in December at the TV12 gallery in Seoul’s Gangnam-gu.

Kara's maknae Kang Ji Young is surely living up to her name of "Giant Baby". On the 20th of October, she updated her twitter account and shared, "Hi~~~ My hand says Hi too~ Ke ke ke" and shared a selca. You can see Jiyoung posing in her selca though she also surprises fans with her photo.

Jiyoung can be seen giving a cute pose with her palms open and edited it to add a facial expression sticker on her palm. On Oct 2, K-pop girl group KARA and Hallyu actress Jang Seohee were appointed as the K-FOOD Export Ambassador, representing the launch of K-FOOD global campaign.

Seo Kyurong, the Minister of Korea Agro-Fisheries&Food Trade Corp, attended the Appointment Ceremony as well as more than 200 KARA and Jang Seohee fans came from Japan and China. On the Ceremony, all the fans and medias together watched KARA's K-FOOD CF, Making film UCC and the special recipe video of KARA's member and Jang Seohee for the very first time. These videos will be released on the internet for all the fans of K-FOOD over the world.

The K-FOOD Series CF contains five parts, each part represent different themes and colors, which is, Health(Black), Taste(Red), Nature(Green), Beauty(Yellow), Love(White), delivered by each member of KARA. to Bring more vivid images to the K-FOOD customers all around world. KARA‘s Gyuri revealed the popularity of MBLAQ‘s Seungho.

The MBLAQ members, Park Kyung Lim, Kim Sae Rom and Jeon Yool will be holding a surprise birthday party for Seungho and Thunder on the upcoming broadcast of ‘Idol Manager‘. During the recording of the surprise party they decided to call the close friends of Seungho along with Thunder and one of the phone calls featured Gyuri.

Gyuri’s voice on the phone caught MBLAQ’s immediate attention. Gyuri and Seungho attended the same high school together, so Park Kyung Lim asked Gyuri how Seungho was at school. Gyuri replied, “The male juniors were a bit scared of him, but he was an incredibly cool senior to the girls.”

Park Kyung Lim asked, “Did you ever have a crush on Seungho?“. Gyuri hesitated for a bit, but answered, “I didn’t dare have a crush on him. Please stay by my side as a good sunbae oppa.” Her hesitant and vague response caused the MBLAQ members to say, “This is a code, isn’t it?” and made everyone on set laugh.

121018 KARA tops oricon singles chart with "Electric Boy"

KARA's new Japanese single "Electric Boy" is doing very well on the charts in Japan. On the 18th of October, their single took the number 1 spot in the Oricon Single Daily chart. Their single was officially released last 17th of October and instantly rose to the top spot.

In just one day, their single achieved over 28,604 sales showing a strong performance for KARA in the Japanese music industry. KARA is doing well in Japan after debuting in the Japanese market three years ago, they will be having their first concert in the popular Tokyo Dome where so far only male Kpop artists have performed.
