130109 KARA’s Jiyoung steps down from ‘IRIS 2’

KARA’s Kang Jiyoung has confirmed her exit from the long-awaited drama, ‘IRIS 2’.

DSP Media announced on January 8 that due to differences in scheduling and filming, the network and the agency couldn’t see eye to eye on a few matters resulting in Kang Jiyoung walking away from the show.

In the upcoming drama, Jiyoung was originally set to play Song Chae Ran, an undercover agent of NSS. However, she was overwhelmed with her conflicting Japan schedule and ultimately decided to leave the cast.

‘IRIS 2’ is reportedly struggling to fill the vacant spot left by Jiyoung as they open another casting call for the role.

130105 KARA's Gyuri to make her drama debut alongside MBLAQ's Thunder

KARA's Park Gyuri and MBLAQ's Thunder got casted as the main lead for the latest MBC Dramanet "Nail Salon Paris".

For Park Gyuri, this work will be her first step to become a real actress. Before Park Gyuri made an appearance as a cameo in "What is Mom" and show acting skills on Japanese Drama "URAKARA" together with the other members, however as a main lead in a drama this time will be the first.

Thunder has made appearance as child actor on last year's "Padam Padam". It was a short appearance but able to show a big presence and pretty visual.

On another node, "Nail Shop Paris" is scheduled to air on March and planned to centered around a beauty shop. At the present, it's working on finalizing the cast.

130107 KARA sheds tears on Tokyo concert

KARA successfully wrapped up their concert "KARASIA 2013 Happy New Year in Tokyo Dome" on 6th January.

This is the first time KARA performed on Tokyo Dome on their own, more than 45K fans attended their concert.

130107 KARA hold successful Tokyo Dome concert

KARA became the first Korean girl group to hold a concert at the Tokyo Dome.

On January 6th, KARA held a solo concert titled ‘KARASIA 2013 Happy New Year in Tokyo Dome’ at the Tokyo Dome and shared their achievement with the 45,000-member crowd cheering for them. The group proved its colossal popularity and influence in the region when tickets for the show sold out in 5 minutes in December.

KARA opened up the stage with “Pandora” and stayed standing during the full 180 minutes of the concert. The girls performed a total of 22 songs in Korean and Japanese, and as each song started, the audience roared in cheers.

Park Gyuri, Nicole and Kang Jiyoung also took the stage with their individual solo stages, before concluding the show with an encore performance of “Mister”.

KARA members said, “We are standing here because of the fans gave us huge supports. In order for a bicycle to move forward, the two wheels have to keep rolling, and we hope that our fans and us can become the two wheels that move forward.”
