130402 Boyfriend-KARA Rank in ‘Top 3′ on Japan Oricon Charts for 1 Week

Groups Boyfriend and KARA have both released new songs in Japan and have been ranking in the ‘top 3′ on the Oricon charts for a week.

Oricon revealed that as of today, Boyfriend was at number 2 and KARA at number 3 on the charts.

Boyfriends new song, “Melody of the Eyes,” sold 3,288 copies in one day and KARA’s “Bye Bye Happy Days,” sold 3,189 copies. Both of these songs were released on March 27 and have been gaining continuous support for the past week.

Boyfriend’s “Melody of the Eyes” is a love song that reveals a more mature and sophisticated image of the group. KARA’s “Bye Bye Happy Days” is a cute and fun dance song.

KARA debuted in 2007 under DSP Media. The group consists of 5 members and have come to be one of the hottest groups in Korea and overseas.

Their song, “Mister” and its fun choreography moves was what allowed them to expand their popularity overseas.

They later signed a contract with Universal Music Japan in 2010. They became known as the number 1 Rookie artist that same year as well. They also hit their number 1 single in Japan as well, making them the first foreign female team to top the chart in just its first week.

The group became one of the most popular Korean groups in Japan, selling over 1 million copies of their single.

Boyfriend debuted in 2011 under Starship Entertainment. They debuted with their single, Boyfriend, and continued to release 2 more singles in 2011.

Last year, the released a mini album and a full album along with 2 Japanese singles as well.

This year, they released a repackage album for “Janus” and their 3rd Japanese single, Melody of the Eyes.

Kara’s Goo Hara and Beast’s Yong Jun Hyung recently headlined many news sites because they have split ways. Goo Hara is usually known for taking selcas, but her recent selca received extra attention because it’s the first time she showed her face to the public.

On March 30, Goo Hara posted a photo on her Twitter without a message. Interestingly, she posted the selca upside down.

KARA‘s Hara and Jiyoung updated fans from Japan with what they like to do on rainy days.

Hara updated fans on her Twitter, “I am listening to music ❤”, and shared a couple shot of her sharing earphones with fellow member Jiyoung as they both block out the sound of the pouring rain with soothing music.

Kamilias were glad to hear from them and commented, “The two of you are so pretty”, “What kind of music are you listening to?”, and “It is also raining in Korea.”

KARA is currently in Japan to promote their 8th Japanese single “Bye Bye Happy Days” in Japan.

130402 "Jang Ok Jung" PD: "Han Seung Yeon Shouldn't Be Discriminated Reversely for Being an Idol-Actress"

At the press conference of upcoming SBS drama “Jang Ok Jung,” producer Bu Sung Cheol talked about his decision to cast Kara‘s Hang Seung Yeon in the drama. He said, “I didn’t know very much about Han Seung Yeon. There were two final candidates for her role and I decided to cast her without knowing that she’s a member of Kara.”

He added, “When Han Seung Yeon first walked into the office, I thought she looked just like how I imagined Sookbin to be. I don’t think she needs to be discriminated reversely just because she’s a member of an idol group. Of course, I expect her to bring in more viewers and that’s a part of the reasons why I cast her.”

In “Jang Ok Jung,” Han Seung Yeon plays the role of Sookbin Choi, who starts out as an in-palace maid, becomes one of the king’s concubines, and makes her son the king of the nation in the end. She meets Jang Ok Jung as Queen In Hyun’s maid and Jang Ok Jung willingly helps her, but Sookbin Choi betrays Jang Ok Jung by taking sides with Queen In Hyun in the end. Although the character comes from the same historical figure, Sookbin Choi in “Jang Ok Jung” is nothing like the same character in 2010 MBC drama “Dong Yi.”

Producer Bu Sung Cheol showed his faith in Han Seung Yeon’s acting in this conference. He confidently said, “I will make sure that nobody gets disappointed by Han Seung Yeon’s acting.”

Upcoming drama “Jang Ok Jung” is based on the novel, “Jang Hee Bin, Live for Love.” The drama will view Jang Hee Bin, who is known as a wicked, demonic woman in history, from a different perspective, focusing on her as the original self Jang Ok Jung, not as Jang Hee Bin. “Jang Ok Jung” will first air on April 8.

Kara celebrates its sixth year in the entertainment industry!

On March 29, the members updated their Twitter accounts with meaningful messages to the fans.

Nicole: “Ding dong~ It’s our 6th year anniversary! Wow. It came before I knew it.. it was a packed 6 years, right? Like a roller coaster.. since time is passing without really knowing, I want to spend each and every day with a full schedule. We have more days together and whatever happens, let’s overcome it together. We became stronger.. love you, Kamilia~ You know my heart, right?”

Han Seung Yeon: “Uh.. I was watching Karasia DVD and it finished not too long ago and it became the 29th. For the time spent wondering if we could make it, for the time the members supported each other when no one showed us interest and stared us down. Thank you. Kamilia, who watched us go through happy and lonely times and also brought us back. I love you.”

Kang Ji Young: “It’s the 6th year anniversary. Kara is jjang! I’m very thankful. Please support us.”

KARA‘s Jiyoung went rogue for her latest round of Twitter selcas.

“KARASIA is definitely amazing,” she posted to her Twitter account recently, along with the above photo. Despite her wonky hair looking like it’s emerged fresh from the shower, she shows a powerful thumbs-up at the camera. Her fierce eyes make the selca take a turn for the dramatic, with Jiyoung looking like a Korean version of Lara Croft.

Meanwhile, KARA is beginning yet another round of Japanese promotions after releasing their 8th single.

Group KARA’s Park Kyuri revealed a self-camera in joy during free time, showing off her goddess-like beauty.

Yesterday, Park Kyuri posted on her Twitter, “In Japan in a long time? Real free time! Going out to play with nothing planned. Yahoo. KARA 6th debut anniversary today is such a good day” along with a picture.

In the picture, Park Kyuri has the sun shining in the back of her, smiling at the camera. Even though she barely has any makeup on, her clear skin and clear-cut features are hard to miss. The fact that it’s her first time getting free time for the first time in a long time reveals the busy, hard life of an idol.

In celebration of their 6th debut anniversary, group KARA’s members each revealed their own feelings through Twitter.

Yesterday at midnight, Nicole posted on her Twitter, “Ding dong it’s 6th anniversary. Wow we’re already this far. It was such full 6 years, right? Time is flying like a roller-coaster without me knowing so I want to spend each day full.”

Han Seungyeon posted, “It is now the 29th. I’m thankful to fans who endured through all the hard times when we felt like we won’t be able to get through, and through the times when we were under sharp eyes of others. And Kamilia who watched and supported us through thick and thin, I love you.” Kamilia is the name of KARA’s fan club.

Kang Jiyoung also posted, saying “It’s 6th debut anniversary. KARA is the best! Thank you so much,” and Park Kyuri said “Thank you for holding KARA dear to your heart, and thank you for holding a person like me precious in your heart.”

Goo Hara said, “Twitter is going crazy. Why? Because it’s KARA’s 6th debut anniversary. Wow. No need for more words, KARA + Kamilia are the best. I’ll be praying that everyone will be happy and joyful through KARA. Thank you.”

KARA debuted in 2007 on March 29th with their first album ‘The First Blooming.’ There have been slight member changes since then, but they are currently active in Korea and Japan.
