140630 Baby Kara’s Choreography Teacher Spotted In Hyomin’s ‘Nice Body’ Music Video

Written By Regina Kim on Monday, June 30, 2014 | 11:32 PM

Hyomin”s “Nice Body” music video has just been released, and Baby Kara fans may spot an unlikely familiar face.

On June 29, T-ara member Hyomin released the music video for her debut single, “Hot Body.” Within 24 hours, the video has garnered nearly 200,000 views on YouTube.

One of Hyomin”s back-up dancers in the music video is also the choreography teacher for Baby Kara, the seven K-pop trainees featured in the reality series “Kara Project.”

In “Kara Project,” the members of Baby Kara compete to become the newest members of Kara, after two members left the group earlier this year.

You can check out the dancer in “Nice Body,” as well as her teaching style in “Kara Project” in the English-subbed episode below.

Prior to its release, K-pop fans observed a similarity between the concept behind Hyomin”s music video and the stylings of Miley Cyrus.

“I also don”t like it,” commented MCarpes in the allkpop forum. “It seems a little bit vulgar.”

However, reception for the music video has been much more positive upon its release.

“I honestly felt this was actually better than expected,” wrote ckstar98 on YouTube. “I thought the music video would be completely sexual but Hyomin proved me wrong.”

“This is not bad at all, though she kind of looks like Eunjung here and her clothes are weird,” commented Shoujo Mei. “There are some parts in the song where she needs to sing better too, but she”s good. Well beyond my expectations. It”s hard going solo after all.”

Hyomin”s solo mini album is slated to drop on July 2, with productions by Brave Brothers and a collaboration with LOCO.

140627 KARA’s Gyuri Discusses Her Ideal Type, Success in Japan, Future Plans, and More with @star1 Magazine

Written By Regina Kim on Thursday, June 26, 2014 | 7:35 PM

In an interview for @star1 magazine, KARA’s leader, Park Gyuri, talked about her ideal type, finding success in Japan, how she relieves stress, and plans for the future.

During the interview, Gyuri was asked if she knew that KARA would find such big success when they first debuted in Japan. She replied, “I honestly didn’t know. It was only through the press and media coverage later on that we realized a little bit [of the success]. I think at the time, we just had the mindset of ‘Let’s work hard,’ before going on stage. So we always gave our all for every performance.”

On her ideal type, she described, “My ideal type is the same as when I was younger. It’s actor Jung Jae Young. He has a manly, macho charm, while still having a humorous image. [He has] the image of someone that would [offer a] hug when I’m having a hard time. To be honest, my father is my ideal type and [Jung Jae Young] seems very similar to him.”

The KARA leader also shared tips on how she relieves her stress, “I meet up with my close friends and drink a beer by the river. We play music, drink some beer, and chat. If I don’t have a chance to meet friends, I watch a movie at home or even go to an Indie movie theater.”

When asked about her future plans, Gyuri shared, “There are still a lot of things I want to try. I recently had a slight resting period, and I took various lessons during that time to work on my shortcomings. Because I’m still in my 20s, I have a lot of desire to do all the things I want to try, whether it’s singing, acting, or any other activities. Personally, I’m the happiest when I’m working. When my breaks are too long, I become a bit depressed. I still have a strong desire to work.”

140606 Kara’s Gyuri Sleeps at an Airport and Bares Her No Makeup Face

Written By Regina Kim on Friday, June 6, 2014 | 8:06 PM

Footage of Kara’s Gyuri sleeping in public has been revealed.

On June 5, a highlight reel from the World Cup special of SBS’ variety program “SNS Expedition: UP for Now,” was posted onto the show’s SNS account.

In the video, KARA’s Gyuri was filmed without any makeup on her face, as she slept on a bench with a blanket over her body, in the middle of an airport.

The cast of “SNS Expedition” left for Brazil for filming. However, Gyuri and actor Oh Man Suk decided to go on an unscheduled trip to Iguazu, Argentina. The two of them jumped on a plane in order to see the famous Iguazu Falls, but when they arrived at the airport, public transport services had already come to an end. It was difficult to find a place to stay for the night so they ultimately decided to spend the night at the Iguazu airport.

It wasn’t an easy task for Oh Man Suk to wash up in the airport bathroom and sleep in a public place, especially in an unfamiliar land with unstable security. However, Gyuri seemed calm and unconcerned about their situation, saying, “I can sleep here,” and displaying her open-mindedness.

Oh Man Suk apologized to the KARA leader, “Sorry for making an idol sleep at an airport,” to which Gyuri responded, “It’s okay. Don’t say that,” trying to lighten his guilt.

Tune in to “SNS Expedition: UP for Now,” which will be airing on June 9 at 8:55 PM (KST) on SBS.
