140820 KARA pick their ideal types among B1A4 and talk about their new song for 1theK”s “Ask In A Box”
Previous “Ask In A Box” guests B1A4 left KARA with the mission to give a visual ranking of the B1A4 members. KARA didn”t want any anti-fans on their case so they opted to pick the members that fit their ideal types instead. The members ended up choosing everyone but CNU and made up for it by giving him a big group “I love you” message at the end.
New member Youngji also showed how quickly she”s adjusting to broadcast by making up a clever poem using the name KARA, impressing her fellow members.
Check out KARA”s answers to Kamilia”s questions in the clip above!
140818 KARA finally makes their quartet return with “Mamma Mia”!
Written By Regina Kim on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 | 5:22 AM
“Mamma Mia” marks Heo Youngji’s official debut as a member of KARA, alongside Han Seungyeon, Park Gyuri, and Goo Hara. After releasing numerous individual, group, and video teasers, along with a final music video trailer, KARA officially made their August comeback for Kamilias to enjoy.
Following up with the diversity of style and concepts in their teasers, KARA incorporated both elegance as well as a bold sexiness for this comeback. With powerful yet sultry moves in their choreography, various degrees of curled hair, and chic black clothing paired with richly ruffled dresses, KARA showed many sides of themselves for their fans. Throughout the music video, viewers can watch solo shots of each member in either bright or dark settings, along with them being allured out of their reverie by some butterflies. By the end, they are seen partying on a patio glowing with light, with streaks in their hair and casual clothing, having overcome their heavy feelings for a potential lover.
Enjoy the long-awaited music video, and tell us what you think! In the meantime, listen to both their Korean and Japanese version albums as well, in which the latter will be released later in the month!

140630 Baby Kara’s Choreography Teacher Spotted In Hyomin’s ‘Nice Body’ Music Video
Written By Regina Kim on Monday, June 30, 2014 | 11:32 PM
Hyomin”s “Nice Body” music video has just been released, and Baby Kara fans may spot an unlikely familiar face.
On June 29, T-ara member Hyomin released the music video for her debut single, “Hot Body.” Within 24 hours, the video has garnered nearly 200,000 views on YouTube.
One of Hyomin”s back-up dancers in the music video is also the choreography teacher for Baby Kara, the seven K-pop trainees featured in the reality series “Kara Project.”
In “Kara Project,” the members of Baby Kara compete to become the newest members of Kara, after two members left the group earlier this year.
You can check out the dancer in “Nice Body,” as well as her teaching style in “Kara Project” in the English-subbed episode below.
Prior to its release, K-pop fans observed a similarity between the concept behind Hyomin”s music video and the stylings of Miley Cyrus.
“I also don”t like it,” commented MCarpes in the allkpop forum. “It seems a little bit vulgar.”
However, reception for the music video has been much more positive upon its release.
“I honestly felt this was actually better than expected,” wrote ckstar98 on YouTube. “I thought the music video would be completely sexual but Hyomin proved me wrong.”
“This is not bad at all, though she kind of looks like Eunjung here and her clothes are weird,” commented Shoujo Mei. “There are some parts in the song where she needs to sing better too, but she”s good. Well beyond my expectations. It”s hard going solo after all.”
Hyomin”s solo mini album is slated to drop on July 2, with productions by Brave Brothers and a collaboration with LOCO.
Meanwhile, check out “Kara Project” featuring Hyomin”s back-up dancer from this link

131004 The End of KARA as we Know it?
Written By Regina Kim on Friday, October 4, 2013 | 8:02 PM
Okay, so that title may have been exaggerated, and after all, there have been groups that have managed to keep their name with just half their members still there (witness 2BSK). Still, the impending departure of key members are bound to change group dynamics, and the sudden nature of the news is bound to cause some discussion among fans about the group’s future.
The news, which first broke on Japanese media, spoke of the latest round of contract renegotiations between KARA and DSP Media. What was supposed to have been a simple business formality took an interesting turn when DSP Media suddenly announced that while three of the five members Gyuri, Seungyeon and Goo Hara decided to renew their contracts for the next three years, both Nicole andJiyoung have decided to just let their contracts run out and then leave the group.

In the case of Nicole, who played an instrumental role in international fan relations (given her command of English) as well as the obligatory klutz in the early days of KARA and their attempts at reality due to her weak Korean, she would be leaving next January. Details of her future endeavours are still uncertain, but whether it would be marriage, furthering her studies, acting or just going off to leave quietly ever after, I would still thank her for the entertainment she provided on TV, and wish her all the best.
On the other hand, the youngest member Jiyoung, whose contract runs out next April makes for a less clearer proposition. While the official press release mentioned that she was exploring future options in studying or a solo career, it was also clear that all her plans were still in consideration, and things might still change as of going to print.
Some might have suspected that DSP could have seen this coming given the contract disputes in early 2011, which might have lead to future misgivings about contract renewals.
If there is one thing certain from the press release, it is that with three members, KARA would still continue to promote as a group and continue with performing both in Japan and Korea.
The only thing that remains is which direction would the group take after members leave. Would they be like the Japanese pop groups with whom they perform in tandem (lots of tears shed at departures, but life goes on with change), or like 2BSK (not too many tears shed, business as usual) or like After School (still reeling from the loss of Kahi)?

In this edition of KStarz in Focus, I’ll be zeroing in on news stories surrounding KARA beginning March 11th.
It’s been three months since performing their first ever solo concert in Tokyo, Japan Kamilias from around the world can now view backstage footage and stage performances from KARA’s “KARAsia 2013 Happy New Year in Tokyo Dome” concert DVD. Besides working on their Japanese album some of the members of KARA have been flexing their acting muscle in dramas scheduled to release this spring such as Seung Yeon playing a King’s wife in SBS’s “Jang Ok Jung, Living in Love”, Gyuri being casted in MBC’s new drama “Nail Salon Paris”, and Hara possibly joining KBS’s new drama “Shark”. While not appearing in a drama for broadcast TV, Nicole has taken up the role as English teacher on a Japanese radio show ‘Rekomen!’ where Nicole will give advice on the English language to callers. Meanwhile, maknae Ji Young will be experiencing college life as an incoming freshman to Sungkyunkwan University.
